Each year we conduct a staff satisfaction survey, giving colleagues a stronger voice. The survey explores how people feel about their role, the organisation and how communication and dialogue might be improved. Results are shared across the organisation, with each region developing an action plan to follow up on staff feedback.
Lee keeps our community transport services moving every day. From taking bookings to checking vehicles over she is always busy, but she says knowing she is making a difference makes it all worthwhile.
‘I joined HCT Group 11 years ago as a driver. After a few months I went to run a small office we had in Tottenham. Now I am based in the office at our Ash Grove depot in Hackney.
I have a busy role. I look after our community transport services. Day to day I talk to groups who want to hire our minibuses, dealing with any queries or getting them registered as members. I deal with any breakdowns and talk to the engineering department to help get things moving again. I will check vehicles before they go out, to make sure they are set up for each individual group. I also deal with ScootAbility – getting mobility scooters to people who need them. And – if we’re short of drivers – sometimes I will even be out driving!
‘It has always been important to me to help the community, and I find my job really satisfying. It’s nice when we’ve booked an elderly group out for a day trip, maybe they will go to the seaside or a museum, and the come back and tell us what a good day they had, and how happy they were with our driver.
‘The team here is really valued. The majority of our drivers stay for a long time – we treat them with care. And in the office all of my team are fantastic. Each of us in our office are very supportive and inclusive and non-judgemental, which helps us in turn support each other and fosters a positive environment to work in. The team is much appreciated.’
