Volunteer drivers needed - Leeds Alternative Travel

If you’d like to make a real difference to your community, then volunteering with Leeds Alternative Travel could be just what you’ve been looking for. We rely on having a strong team of dedicated volunteers to drive our fleet of minibuses and we are looking for more people to join the team.

You will be helping community groups across Leeds to carry out their day to day activities. This will include shopping, bingo, lunches and many other social activities. Many of our member groups wouldn’t be able to operate without our central pool of volunteer drivers. You will also help individuals with mobility problems to access key facilities, and to attend appointments etc.

You’ll need...

  • To be aged 21 +
  • Full UK driving licence (ideally 'clean' but talk to us if you have any endorsements)
  • Those interested in volunteering for LAT will be required to have an Enhanced DBS Check (LAT will meet the costs of this).

Volunteer vehicle checks and support - Hackney Community Transport

Hackney Community Transport is seeking a team of volunteers to support the success of our Community Transport. This position isavailable to start now and isa fantastic opportunity for you to learn new skills and enhance your existing ones! As a volunteer you will be helping us to ensure that our business operations run smoothly, further benefiting the community groups across Hackney. We are looking for strong and focussed individuals who are passionate about people.

Vehicle checks and supporting the cleaning and up-keep of our vehicles:

  • Moving vehicles back to our depot in Hackney, to enable engineering to carry out relevant checks
  • Vehicle checks (full training will be given)
  • Cleaning our GT vehicles to a high standard
  • Ensuring that our vehicles are ready for the next booking
  • Responding to issues regarding vehicle cleanliness in a timely manner

All volunteers are inducted and trained prior to joining HCT.

You may prefer to volunteer on a fixed day(s) each week, or you may be available on a much more regular basis. We are keen to support you in learning new skills and gaining knowledge about what we do and how we do it, to iprove your chances of gaining employment or further education, or simply to make your life more complete!

Supporting Disabled and Vulnerable people - Hackney Community Transport

Hackney Community Transport (HCT) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a volunteer to support older people and people with disabilities / limited mobility to get out and about by accessing our ‘Community Transport’, through our Community car scheme. It’s a rewarding opportunity to perform a vital role for people who might otherwise not be able to travel on mainstream public transport.

This service provides fully wheelchair-accessible vehicles – delivered by Volunteers who’ve been trained to help people who might need more support, patience and understanding. To understand more about this service please visit YourCar.
